What is a Stefana Crown?

A Greek Stefana crown, also known as "Stefana" or "Stephana," is a pair of intertwined crowns or wreaths that are used in Greek Orthodox Christian wedding ceremonies. These crowns are typically made of flowers, leaves, or sometimes metal and are connected by a ribbon. The Stefana symbolize the union of the bride and groom into a single, inseparable marital union. During the wedding ceremony, the Stefana crowns are placed on the heads of the bride and groom by the priest or officiant and are often swapped between the couple to seal their commitment to each other. The crowns are a significant and beautiful part of Greek Orthodox wedding traditions.
