Reopening the Studio Safely
I am so happy that we have been given the green light by Boris to reopen non essential shops on the 12th April! I've been working hard behind the scenes to make design consultations in my studio as safe as possible.
Where is my studio based?
My workspace is part of a collection of craft studios at Cockington Court, Torquay. I am so lucky to be surrounded by lots of talented craftspeople who make glassware, furniture, homeware, lighting and pottery. I also have some wedding neighbours such as wedding florist Flower La Vita, Daisycakes and wedding dress designer Dandelions and Pearls. So when you're booking in for your design consultation with me, why not book in with them afterwards?
There is a car park just a few moments away so make sure you check out the map on my Visit Me page to get yourself acquainted. The machine only takes cash so make sure you bring a couple of pounds with you.
Why do I need to book a design consultation?
You're more than welcome to pop into my studio to have a look around but if you want a proper chat about your wedding accessories I suggest you book a complimentary appointment. Mainly so I can give you my full attention as I am doing a lot of video call consultations at the moment and want to give you the full Claire Austin experience! I like to know as much as possible about your wedding planning, style and theme and if you have any inspiration or imagery prepped it's great to see it before meeting. It can be helpful to have a description of your wedding dress, hair style choice and whether you are thinking of wearing a veil. This way I can prepare materials and ideas that you might like so we can get the most out of the appointment. I also really enjoy meeting brides in person so we can have a good old natter and get to know each other so I can really delve into your imagination and make you a beautiful unique headpiece.

I also need to have an opportunity to clean the studio in between appointments as you will be invited to sit on chairs and may touch the door handle etc.
How will the design consultations work?
When you have got in contact me to arrange your exclusive appointment I will make sure the studio is nice and clean for your arrival. I will ask that you give me a little wave when you're outside so that we both have an opportunity to put our face masks on and I will invite you in to sit down. I will have hand sanitiser on the table ready for you to use and I will go behind my screen whilst you take a look at my headpieces on display in the studio.
Appointments will be held on a 1:1 basis unless you have a support bubble in which I can have two people maximum in my studio. I will sit a metre away on the other side of the studio at all times and will have my Velux window open for free flowing air. Your consultation with me will last approximately 30-60 minutes and I will send you a quote afterwards for your perusal.
